The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) in conjunction with the Muslim American Society (MAS), held its 32nd annual convention in Hartford, CT on July 6-8, titled ‘Muhammad: Mercy to Humanity and Beyond.” Various sources have asserted that ICNA is closely tied to the Jamaat-e-Islami organization of Southeast Asia, known to be allied with the Muslim Brotherhood. The MAS is a lesser-known Muslim Brotherhood group in the U.S that has been holding joint conferences with ICNA in recent years. Illustrating the cross-connections between the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood groups, one of the prominent featured speakers at the convention was Jamal Badawi who has been identified both as an MAS board member but who is also a leader of the Islamic Society of North America. Talat Sultan. the current President of ICNA,, was formerly associated with both the Muslim Student Association and was one of the original incorporators of ISNA.
