Chinese Islamic Leaders Visit Muslim Council Of Britain

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) is reporting on a visit of Chinese Islamic leaders to the MCB office. According to the report:

A delegation of Chinese civil society and Islamic leaders visited the MCB office on Monday, 9th November 2009. Accompanied by senior Chinese diplomats at the Chinese Embassy in London, the delegation’s objective was to learn from the MCB’s experience of working in a multi-faith and multi-cultural society in the United Kingdom. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Bari, the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) briefed the delegation about the history of the MCB and its work, followed by a PowerPoint presentation by Farooq Murad, the Treasurer. Imam Hilaluddin Chen Guangyuan, President China Islamic Association gave a brief overview on the condition of Muslims in China and their participation in Islamic and national activities. Imam Guangyuan is a well known Chinese Islamic scholar and Vice Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic and Religious Affairs of CPPCC National Committee.

The MCB is U.K. umbrella group dominated by organizations tied to the global Muslim Brotherhood and has had a stormy relationship with the U.K. government.
