Muslim Council of Britain Joins Al-Aqsa Incitement

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) has joined many other global Muslim Brotherhood organizations in accusing Israel of acting against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. According to an MCB announcement:

In view of Israeli actions affecting the sovereignity over East Jerusalem and holy sites in Palestine, the MCB has written to the Prime Minister on 22nd March 2010 conveying the disquiet and concern of Muslims in Britain and seeking a meeting to discuss the issues. The letter, from the Secretary General of the MCB with over 30 co-signatories, states:

“the recent spate of violence in East Jerusalem that has followed Israeli attempts to alter symbolic religious sites in the occupied territory is a grave threat to peace and stability in the region. Only a month ago, Israel declared Ibrahimi Mosque (Tomb of the Patriarchs) and Belal Mosque in Bethlehem as part of Israel’s national heritage sites and this week it reopened the Hurva Synagogue, only a few hundred meters away from the Al Aqsa Mosque. Moreover, Israeli troops continually abuse Al Aqsa worshippers during their so called ‘security operations’…. A cross section of people, from all faiths and none, are deeply worried about the fate of the holy sites and the lack of firm response from the international community. Statements from the Foreign Office have thus far been muted. The UK holds a responsible position in shaping world opinion and upholding the rule of law and must speak and stand up for basic human rights. As the Prime Minister of Great Britain, we appeal to you to make unequivocal condemnation of these acts and demand that Israel end its occupation. Furthermore we call on you to insist that Israel, as an occupying power, should stop further annexation of Palestinian land”.

The MCB is a UK. umbrella group dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood. Previous posts have discussed the organizations stormy relationship with the U.K government who recently re-estabilshed relations following a government minister’s call last year for the resignation of the MCB Deputy Secretary who publicly called for violence against Israel.

An earlier post describes the latest developments in the longstanding campaign by the global Muslim Brotherhood to foment unrest centered on Israel actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque
