Sheikh Sabri delivered his speech on the occasion of the seventeenth ‘Al-Aqsa in danger’ Festival, where he was given the ‘Aqsa Supporter of the Year’ award by the Islamic Movement. He stressed in his speech on the dangers facing al-Aqsa Mosque, pointing to remarks made by officials in the Israeli occupation saying that they will turn al-Aqsa plazas to public squares. The seventeenth Al-Aqsa is in danger festival kicked off on Friday evening on Salam Stadium in the city of Umm al-Fahm, where tens of thousands of participants flocked from al-Jalil, Negev and Al Quds.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque is often the subject of various Global Muslim Brotherhood conspiracies theories involving alleged Israeli plots and plans to destroy the mosque.

A post from April discussed the decision by a British court to uphold the appeal by Salah against a deportation order.  A post from last October discussed the deportation order itself.  An earlier post reported on the ongoing support offer to Mr. Salah by the U.K. Muslim Brotherhood. Other posts have discussed the arrest of Mr. Salah in the U.K. and the support offered to him by the Global Muslim Brotherhood. A BBC producer and MEMRI have both covered the anti-Semitic and extremist views of Mr. Salah. In 2010, the Jerusalem Post profiled Mr. Salah who leads the Northern branch of the Islamic Movement, essentially the Israeli Muslim Brotherhood. Knowledgable sources report that Salah is currently back in Israel.

A NEFA Foundation report identifies Sheikh Ekrima Sabri as a Trustee of the Union of Good, the worldwide coalition of Islamic charities raising money for Hamas and headed by Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi.
