An African news portal is reporting that Global Muslim Brotherhood figure Issam El-Bashir has opened an international conference on terrorism and sectarianism held in Khartoum and co-sponsored by the Muslim World League (MWL). According to the  allAfrica.com report:

April 27, 2016  Khartoum — An International Conference on Terrorism and Sectarian Fundamentalism, organized by the Sudanese Ministry of Guidance and Endowment in collaboration with the Muslim World League, started in Khartoum on Wednesday.

The two-day conference which will discuss how to counter terrorism and extremism in Africa was addressed by President Omer Bashir, who stressed that the enemies of Islam have not stopped trying to link Islam with terrorism with the aim of depicting it as a violent and merciless faith. They also tried to portray Islam as religion of chaos, recklessness and suppression. He said the principals of Islam refute such allegations because this is a religion that calls for equality of people and equity, and that it is a color blind towards race, origin, or social status.

He said the African continent has a vast natural resources and strategic position therefore some quarters try to steal away its wealth as they did before ‘ but we want the continent to live in peace and stability that would enable it utilize these riches for the welfare of its people’ Bashir added.

He urged the conferees to come up with resolutions that would lead to practical solutions for the continent to avoid such dangers and encourage co-existence and tolerance among its peoples.

Addressing the opening session of the conference, Dr. Issam Ahmed al-Bashir, Chairman of the Islamic Jurisdiction Academy, said the world, represented in its international organizations, has failed to agree on specific meaning for terrorism ‘ and it is an intended position’ he added.

He denounced double standards in attributing the deeds of some Muslims to Islam itself seeking to distort its image. He said there are religious factors behind terrorism, emanating from misunderstanding of some concepts, as well as political, economic, social and cultural factors.

Dr. Abdul Muhssinal-Traiki, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, said extremism has been invading thoughts of some youth groups who are also being exploited by some fundamentalists seeking to destabilize national security and exposing the Muslim nations to chaos.

Sudanese national Issam El-Bashir (aka Essam El-Bashir) has held numerous positions associated with the global Muslim Brotherhood including as a former director of the UK charity Islamic Relief, a member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, and as a former Minister of Religious Affairs in the Sudanese political party of the late Hassan Al-Turabi, formerly closely tied to the Brotherhood. Our recent reporting on Dr. Bashir has included:

  • In August 2015, when we reported that he addressed the annual Ramadan banquet sponsored by the President of Sudan, an individual wanted for war crimes by the ICC.
  • In October 2015 when we noted his appearance in connection with an organization tied to the Muslim Brotherhood in Australia.
  • In November 2015, in connection with his expected appearance at the annual Brussels Muslim Fair.

In addition, Dutch media reported in December 2015 that the mayor of Eindhoven in the Netherlands had banned seven foreign imams from speaking at an Islamic conference in the city after consulting the government counter terrorism watchdog which found hey had been preaching anti-semitism, anti-gay rights, anti-women’s rights and hatred against unbelievers as well as praising violent jihad and martyrdom. A second report identified Issam El-Bashir  as one of the imams who was banned.

The Muslim World League was established in 1962 as a means for the propagation of Saudi “Wahabbi” Islam. Muslim Brothers played an important role in its founding and the League has always been strongly associated with the Brotherhood. US government officials have testified that MWL has been linked to supporting Islamic terrorist organizations globally and the organization has a long history of anti-Semitism.
