IIIT To Act As Consultant To Proposed Bosnian University; Grand Mufti Wants To Train European Imams

The International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) has issued a short but important announcement that it wants to act as a consultant to a proposed new University in Bosnia and that Bosnian Grand Mufti Mustafa Siric (aka Ceric) wants to train imams from Europe in Bosnia under his supervision. According to the announcement:

Dr. Jamal Barzinji, VP of IIIT, accompanied by Dr. Anas al-Sheikh Ali, Director of IIIT London, visited Dr. Mustafa Siric, chief of Religious Scholars of Bosnia/Herzegovina. The meeting addressed issues of training imams from Europe in Bosnia, under the supervision of Dr. Siric and a proposal to establish a new University in Bosnia. IIIT will act as a consultant.

IIIT was founded in 1980 by important members of the Global Muslim Brotherhood who wished to promote the “Islamization of Knowledge” and Youssef Qaradawi, now one of the most important leaders of the global Muslim Brotherhood, played an important role in the European meeting which gave birth to the organization. As a previous post discussed, Qaradawi appears to currently serve as a board member and/or “Executive member” of IIIT. IIT is also associated with the now defunct SAAR Foundation, a network of Islamic organizations located in Northern Virginia that was raided by the Federal government in 2003 and still under investigation by the U.S. Justice Department in connection with the financing of terrorism. A post from yesterday discussed plans by IIIT to build a new university in Lebanon.

Dr. Ceric, in turn, is tied to the global Muslim Brotherhood through his membership in the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), headed by Qaradawi who is known for his theological rulings supporting terrorism in Israel and endorsing attacks on coalition troops in Iraq.. Another previous post discussed Dr. Ceric’s suggestion that his organization could serve as a model for a European wide organization to control mosques and Islamic schools. Taken together, these developments suggest that both IIIT and Dr. Ceric are seeking to expand their influence over the development of Islam worldwide. The proposed relationship between IIIT, part of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood, is yet further evidence of the existence of a global Muslim Brotherhood.
