Dutch media is reporting that the Parliament is concerned about the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Netherlands including a conference scheduled for later this month. According to a translated report in the Telegraaf newspaper:

THE HAGUE – The House is very concerned about the activities of the orthodox Muslim Brotherhood and similar organizations. This emerged during a meeting Thursday following reports that the Federation of Islamic Organisations Netherlands (Fion) later this month in the Netherlands Conference Islam in Holland would like to organize. The Fion is affiliated with the FIOE, which in turn is the European representative of the Muslim Brotherhood. That is after ‘herislamisering’ of Muslims in Europe to a very orthodxe doctrine which Islam absolutely everything in life is mandatory to apply. Several parties called for “not naive” to respect “these clubs.” According to Bas van der Vlies of the SGP are even “all signals are red. Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin (Home Affairs) said “certainly not naive” to be. He pointed out that different ministries and organizations are vigilant and do research. Foreign Affairs, for example, its own diplomatic missions said they do not own visa applications in connection with the conference to deal with, but they must submit to the Hague.

An earlier post reported on the announcement that FION was co-sponsoring the above conference in connection with the International Support Organization (ISO), an entity headed by Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi and with ties to FIOE and to the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB), the FIOE UK member organization. That post also noted that the ISO was registered in the US to a Maryland attorney who was a former spokesman for a charity designated by the U.S. as a terrorist entity and who was also a spokesman for the now defunct American Muslim Council, a former arm of the US Muslim Brotherhood. The post also noted that the the General-Secretary of the ISO in the US was  Salman al-Oadah (aka Salman Bin Fahd Al Ouda, Salman Al-`Udah, Salman Al Awda), recently known to be a sympathizer of Osama Bin Laden.

Important Global Muslim Brotherhood leaders invited to the Dutch conference include:

  • Ahmed Gab Allah (aka Ahmed Jaballah)- leader in the French Muslim Brotherhood, FIOE
  • Adel Al Fallah –Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Kuwait
  • Mutlak Al Karawy Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Kuwait

Also invited are two well-known individuals associated with the Saudi Salafi movement:

  • Dr. Salman Bin Fahd Al Ouda (aka Salman Al-`Udah,
  • Gaafar Al Sheikh Idrees (aka Gaafar Idris,) Saudi-born Sudanese expelled from the US 2003

Both men are known to have been tied to the Islamic Assembly of North America, thought by US prosecutors in 2003 to have promoted teachings and religious fatwas that advocated violence against the United States —

Conference invitees from Holland include six Dutch academics, several of which were described by contacts in the Netherlands as sympathetic to the global Muslim Brotherhood.

The Federation of Islamic Organizations in Holland (FION) is the Dutch member organization of the Federation of Islamic Organizations In Europe (FIOE), the umbrella organization representing the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe. Previous posts have discussed FION and its leader Yahia Bouyafa.
