Syrian Muslim Brotherhood Issues Shura Council Statement; Russian/Iran Declared Occupiers and Turkey As Supporter

The Syrian Muslim Brotherhood has issued the final statement of its Shura Council meeting held in September 2019. In the Arabic language statement which was posted on their official Facebook page, the Syrian Brotherhood described the current situation of the Syrian civil war and reaffirmed its commitment to jihad in order to “support the glorious revolution with all available tools”. While Russia and Iran are described as “occupiers” and “aggressors”, the Muslim Brotherhood explicitly thanks Turkey for its “help and support for Syrian Refugees and the Syrian Revolution.” The Shura Council statement further declared:

The Brotherhood confirms the following:

  • Support of the Syrian people and their revolutionary resistance groups. As Syria has become a homeland occupied by Russia and Iran, Jihad has become a duty and legitimacy until the liberation of Syria.
  • We respect the fight of revolutionary resistance groups against Iranian and Russian aggression. However, the current situation requires reviewing the latest developments and unifying efforts to free the country from occupation.
  • We refuse to interfere in Syrian affairs under the pretext of fighting terrorism. As What actually happens is indeed support for terrorism, not fighting against it.
  • Our Syrian people have been subjected to heinous crimes for nine years, and the world is only watching what is happening and doing nothing. We must therefore bear the moral and legal responsibility to protect the Syrian people from displacement and genocide.
  • We support a political solution that ensures the achievement of the goals of the Syrian revolution. But we will not accept political quirks.

Greetings and respect to all who helped the Syrian people and support their revolution. As we thank and respect the Turkish help and support for Syrian Refugees and the Syrian Revolution.
