The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) has announced that one of its speakers at its recent joint conference with the Muslim American Society (MAS) was Dr. AbdulMawgoud Dardery, a former leader in the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood’s political party. According to promotional material for the conference listing the various speakers, Dr. Dardery’s bio is described as follows:

Dr. AbdulMawgoud Dardery President of the FRC of the Egypt Parliament Abroad Other Speaker Profile Ph.D. Euro-centrism versus Islamism: University of Pittsburgh, USA, 2000. Member of the Egyptian Student Union, FAS, Assiut University, Egypt, 1979.”

According to another bio, Dr. Dardery was a Spokesperson to the Foreign Relations Committee of the Egyptian Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party. The GMBDW reported in January 2015 that Dardery was part of a delegation of Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood leaders who were in Washington DC and who met with the State Department and an unidentified White House official. Dardery also spoke at a June 2014 Washington conference attended by Philip Gordon, Special Assistant to the President and White House Coordinator for the Middle East, North Africa, and the Gulf Region and Congressman Keith Ellison United States Representative (D-MN). That conference was sponsored by the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy (CSID), founded in 1998 in what appears to have been a cooperative effort among the US Muslim Brotherhood, the US State Department and Georgetown University academic John Esposito.

According to the the above conference bio, Abdul Dardery appears to have been resident in the US during a period from 1985 to sometime around 2010 and public record information reports a US Social Security number issued in 1986-1988 in Pennsylvania and addresses in both Pittsburgh and Minnesota that were used as late as 2015. One of Dardery’s affiliations listed above is was serving as the President of the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh (ICP) from 1994 – 2000. As we have noted in the past, former Obama Administration faith advisor Dahlia Mogahed, whose own family history suggest ties to the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, was identified in 2003 as the Outreach Coordinator for the ICP whose co-founder lost a DOE security clearance and whose Imam has long faced deportation based on immigration violations.

The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is a part of the US Muslim Brotherhood and considered to be closely tied to the Jamaat-e-Islami organization of Southeast Asia, itself allied with the Global Muslim Brotherhood. ICNA is particularly close to the Muslim American Society and the two organizations have been holding joint conferences in recent years. The MAS was identified in a Hudson Institute report authored by the GMBDW editor as a part of the US Muslim Brotherhood and closely tied to the Egyptian organization.
