The Fitna Movie

Important Saudi institutions tied to the global Muslim Brotherhood have weighed in recently on the Geert Wilders film. For example, the secretary-general of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) asserts that “controlling the damage” is up to the West and that Christians and Jews are not serious about dialog

“These kinds of attacks by so-called sane European politicians and scholars will lead to very serious repercussions, pushing mankind to a situation of chaos and conflict,” said Dr. Saleh S. Al-Wohaibi, secretary-general of WAMY…. “It is a new fitna, a new obstacle to block any sensible dialogue between religions. It is high time that the West moves quickly to control the damage. They don’t understand how much Muslims love and respect their Prophet (pbuh),” said Al-Wohaibi. “If we do something against Christianity or target Christian interests in retaliation, the Netherlands, Europe and the whole world would object. But Islam does not teach that, it advocates peace and co-existence,” said Al-Wohaibi. “I am afraid that the Western world has failed to understand the severity of the problem,” he said, adding that people, such as Wilders, are trying to create conflict. He added that Wilders is being provocative with no knowledge of religions and human values, and that his antics have created problems for the Dutch government. Speaking about whether dialogue between Muslims, Christians and Jews would help reconcile differences, Al-Wohaibi said, “I have my own reservations. Muslims are serious but the other parties are not. They are not committed. They want to hold dialogue, just for the sake of it and for Muslims’ consumption.”

The Muslim World League (MWL) issued a statement describing the movie as intended to distort and turn people against Islam, stating that slandering the Koran dates back to the time of Mohammed. The statement then:

… calls upon Muslims and their governments and their organizations, the media in their countries to achieve the highest degree of cooperation among themselves to define Islam, and pride write to publicly without embarrassment: (a book you go there not in your embarrassing him to warn him and the memory of believers), and calls upon governments and Islamic organizations, both official and popular to make joint efforts in defending the Quran and erosion and expose attempts by enemies, to know other peoples solidity in defence of Muslims Lord’s book.

The MWL also recently ran an advertisement in Danish newspapers regarding the republication of the Danish MOhammed cartoons. The ad opens with an extraordinary claim:

Freedom of expression and the right to your own opinion are guaranteed in Islam and is one of Islam’s most important contributions to the world more than 1400 years ago. Factually it ensures all heavenly revealed religions and denominations and promises humanity the right to think and express oneself freely, as long as those expressions don’t cause insult or discrimination of others or rouse hate based on religion or race. One of the worst forms of religious discrimination is ridiculing the prophets and the messengers.

In fact, Saudi Arabia is responsible for the worldwide dissemination of hate propaganda directed at Christians and Jews. The ad also contains the following passage which some have interpreted as a threat against the government of Denmark:

Factually Muslims still lack a formal dissociation from the reprinting of the insulting cartoons from relevant authorities. We are convinced that a dissociation will contribute to preventing additional repetitions of such unfortunate measures.

Both WAMY and the MWL play important roles in the propagation of Saudi “Wahabbi” Islam and were created largely by Muslim Brothers fleeing action against them in their respective home countries.
