An Internet news portal has reported that Mustafa Ceric, the Grand Mufti of Bosnia, has be instrumental in the introduction of Islamic teaching for Muslim children in Sarajevo kindergartens. According to the report:
In post-war Bosnia, which introduced religious teaching once the war ended and regulated it by law in 2004, the situation is as complicated as ever. Children attend religious education classes of their own ethnic group — Muslim, Catholic or Orthodox; few opt for “teaching about religion” that includes teaching on beliefs of all three religions, other major religions, and the position also of atheists. Fierce debate broke out recently whether religious education should be introduced in kindergartens in Bosnian capital Sarajevo. The national proposal was shelved, but Islamic leader Mustafa Ceric insisted on introducing Islamic teaching for Muslim children.
