Former U.S. Muslim Brotherhood Figure Makes Anti-American And Anti-Semitic Comments On Egyptian TV

MEMRI TV is reporting on anti-Semitic and anti-American comments on Egyptian TV in late December by Dr. Solah Sultan (aka Sallah Sultan), a former figure in the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood. According to the MEMRI transcript, Dr. Sultan made the following remarks:

The arch-murderer who commanded the campaign against Jenin in 2003 went to America a few months later and boarded a NASA space shuttle. The space shuttle was launched by NASA, and a few minutes later, it reached Texas, the land of President Bush. Then this space shuttle shattered to pieces, along with the five top American space scientists, and that commander of the Zionist airforce was on board with them. Where exactly did it shatter and fall? By Allah, Sheik Mahmoud, although I was living in America, I didn’t know that there was a city called “Palestine” in America. Sheik Mustafa, the space shuttle fell, of all places, in the city of Palestine, in President Bush’s state of Texas.

The stone, which is thrown at the Jews, hates these Jews, these Zionists, because Allah foretold, via His Prophet Muhammad, that Judgment Day will not come before the Jew and the Muslim fight. The Jew will hide behind stones and trees, and the stone and the tree will speak, saying: “Oh Muslim, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.” The only exception will be the Gharqad tree.

TV host: The Jews know this for sure, that’s why they plant Gharqad trees.

Dr. Sallah Sultan: The stone’s self-awareness is such that it can distinguish Muslims from Jews.

TV host: True, and it will support the Muslims.

Dr. Sallah Sultan: American, which gave [Israel] everything it needed in these battles, will suffer economic stagnation, ruin, destruction, and crime, which will surpass what is happening in Gaza. One of these days, the U.S. will suffer more deaths than all those killed in this third Gaza holocaust. This will happen soon.

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is an attempt to rule and corrupt the entire world. When the world concentrates on its desires and lusts, the [Jews] will be free to implement their plan of controlling the world.

As discussed in a previous post, Sultan relocated to Bahrain in 2007 where he was appointed as adviser to the head of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa. Dr. Sultan left the U.S. following negative press reports in the U.S. media which led the authorities there to suspend his application for American citizenship. Dr Sultan’s online resume indicates that he is or was a member of several important U.S. and European Muslim Brotherhood organizations including the International Union for Muslim Scholars and European Council for Fatwa and Research, both headed by Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi, the Fiqh Council of North America, and the Board of Trustees of the Islamic American University chaired by Qaradawi. This resume also expresses Dr. Soltan’s vision “To live happily. To die as a martyr.” Disturbingly, Dr. Soltan’s resume also indicates that since 1996, he has also been a member of the Faculty of Shari‘ah and Law in Oman raising the possibility of Muslim Brotherhood influence in that relatively quiescent country.

Another previous post discussed some of Dr. Sultan statements illustrating how Brotherhood figures have spoken to Islamic and Arabic-speaking audiences differently than to Western audiences. These statements included an appearance on Saudi TV where Dr. Sultan asserted that the US planned the 9/11 attacks as a pretext for terrorizing the world and praising Osama bin Laden confidante Abd Al-Majid Al-Zindani. Dr. Sultan also attended an Istanbul rally featuring Hamas chief chief Ismail Haniyeh. According to one report, this information was turned over to the Department of Homeland Security by a U.S. Congresswoman.
