Malaysian media is reporting that the Lebanese-based Al-Quds International Institution (QII) has praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for his “continuous support of the Palestinian cause” and his visit to the Gaza strip in January. According to a New Straits Time report:

11 March 2013 A CIVIL society organisation based in Beirut has praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for his continuous support of the Palestinian cause. In a letter (see full transcription below) dated Feb 15, the Al-Quds International Institution (QII) chairman of the Board of Trustees, Yusuf al-Qaradawi commended Najib for his visit to the Gaza Strip in January, saying it was a bold step towards ending the siege in the beleaguered state. ‘Your visit is clearly an unmistakable sign to the international community and leaders of Islamic nations on the urgent need for bold action towards ending the inhumane siege, not only in the Gaza Strip but also in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem,’ Yusuf wrote. He said Najib’s visit had renewed hopes among Palestinians wishing for freedom after decades of conflict and paid tribute to Malaysia’s role in supporting the Palestinian fight. ‘Malaysia, for (Palestinians), has long been regarded as a leading Islamic nation, especially in supporting the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause. ‘This specific visit has further asserted this support and fuelled again this regard and notability. ‘Malaysia, its government and people, are a vital factor in supporting the Jerusalemite just cause, with Jerusalem being at the heart of the Muslim causes.’ Founded in 2001, QII is an independent civil institution which includes Arab and international figures. The organisation’s main centre is in Beirut while its permanent headquarters is in Jerusalem. “

A post from October 2012 reported that  U.S. Treasury Department had designated the Al-Quds International Institution (aka Al-Quds International Foundation) as one of two Lebanese charities controlled by Hamas and as terrorist organizations. In fact, it would be appropriate to characterize the two charities as controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood rather than Hamas. Islam Online, formerly closely associated with Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawidescribed the Al Quds International Institution (AQII) as a non-profit organization established in Lebanon in 2001 with a permanent headquarters in Jerusalem and says that the board of trustees features a “cohort of Arab and Muslim figures, who seek to keep Al-Quds cause alive and pass it on from one generation to another.” It should also be noted that the Secretary-General of AQII is Mohammad Akram al Adlouni who was the likely author of a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood document calling for the destruction of the Western civilization at the hands of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood. A post from March 2011 reported that Qaradawi was to lead a delegation to the eighth annual Jerusalem Foundation (aka Al-Quds Foundation, AQII) conference to be held in Khartoum. Previous posts discussed the sixth and seventh Al-Quds conferences and a report from the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) discusses the critical role played by the Al-Quds conferences in the planning for the Gaza flotilla involved in a violent altercation with Israeli forces last June.
