According to U.S. government monitoring, the head of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was interview by the Gaza-based, HAMAS-run Al-Aqsa Satellite Channel. According to the report (see note below), Nihad Awad blamed “right-wing” media and ideologists for sparking what he sees as a new wave of violence against Muslims:
For his part, Awad considers that the hostility toward Muslims was bound to turn into violence. He says that the right-wing media in the West is living in a state of “self-denial” by claiming that they were not involved and that the Muslims are the source of danger. He believes that right-wing ideologists appearing in these media outlets are fanning violence against Muslims. He believes that the Oslo attacks mark the beginning of “a wave of violence” against the Muslims in the West and against Westerners opposed to the right wing. As for the United States, he says that they have approached US President Barack Obama to ask him to prevent US security apparatuses from employing such ideologists to “train” political leaders and security commanders because they “increase the gap” between Muslims and non-Muslims.
A previous post discussed similar comments by CAIR official Ibrahim Hooper made on Iranian TV in June.
Documents released in the Holy Land Trial have revealed that the founders and current leaders of CAIR were part of the Palestine Committee of the Muslim Brotherhood as well as identifying the organization itself as being part of the US. Brotherhood. A recent post discussed an interview with the Deputy leader of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood in which he confirms a relationship between his organization and CAIR. Investigative research posted on GMBDW had determined that CAIR had it origins in the U.S. Hamas infrastructure and CAIR and its leaders have a long history of defending almost all individuals accused of terrorism by the US. government, frequently calling such prosecutions a “war on Islam.” In 2009, a US federal judge ruled “The Government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA and NAIT with HLF, the Islamic Association for Palestine (“IAP”), and with Hamas.”
