Former U.K. Muslim Council Leader Meets With Muslim World League Head

The International Islamic News Agency has reported that the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) , Dr. Abdullah Al-Turki, met on Tuesday at the MWL headquarters in Mecca with Iqbal Sacranie, a former Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain MCB) whom the report incorrectly identifies as the current MCB Sec-General. According to the report, they discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between MWL and the British Muslims through the MCB. The MCB is a U.K. umbrella group comprised mostly of Muslim Brotherhood organizations while the MWL was established in Mecca in 1962 and has become one of the major vehicles for the propagation of Saudi “Wahabbism” throughout the world. Muslim Brothers were known to have influential in the MWL from the beginnings of the organization and Brotherhood leaders are known to have met often with League officials. A recent post has reported on the first meeting of a newly-established new Islamic “coordinating body” sponsored by the MWL that was attended by the leader of the main Muslim Brotherhood organization in France.
