WAMY Awards Graduate Scholarships

The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), A Saudi religious organization close to the global Muslim Brotherhood, has announced that it has awarded scholarships to 725 students of various nationalities to enable them to pursue graduate studies. According to the announcement :

The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has extended scholarships to 725 students of various nationalities to enable them to complete their studies and obtain master and doctorate degrees. Khalid Al-Ahmadi, Director of Administration of Educational Affairs at WAMY said that the total value of the scholarships would be SR3,807,763, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Saturday. He noted that students from Burkina Faso, Somalia, Bangladesh, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, Tunisia, Burundi, Togo, Nigeria, Mauritania, Chad, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, the Philippines, Ghana, Senegal, Djibouti and Thailand will benefit from the scholarships. The students who are on scholarships will study at a number of universities including Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University, King Saud University, the Holy Qur’an University, Omdurman Islamic University, Khartoum University, Al-Azhar University, Ali Al-Bihar University, Al-Nilein University, Africa International University, Juba University, Khartoum Institute, institutes of researches and studies in the Muslim World, Al-Jazeera University, and Egypt University for Sciences and Technology.

Some of the universities identified, including Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University and Al-Azhar University, are known centers of Islamist/Muslim Brotherhood activity.

Muslim Brothers were instrumental in the founding of WAMY and the organization continues to enjoy close relations with the global Muslim Brotherhood. U.S. government agencies and officials have argued that WAMY has helped spread Islamic extremism around the world as well as sponsoring terrorism in places such as Bosnia, Israel, and India. Numerous previous posts have discussed WAMY’s activities throughout the world. Also active in Poland is the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe (FIOE), the European umbrella group representing the global Muslim Brotherhood in Europe.
