Egyptian Brotherhood Leader Condems Cairo Bombing

The leader of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood has issued a statement condeming yesterday’s bombing of a crowded market in Cairo that killed and wounded a number of foreign tourists. According to the website of the Egyptian Brotherhood:

MB Chairman, Mahdy Akef, issued a statement concerning Al-Husain’s bomb blast on Sunday 22nd Feb 2009, he said, ’ Muslim Brotherhood strongly condemns Al-Husain’s bomb attacks.’ Akef described the blast as despicable violent act, ’ these actions are against humanity and these bombings has nothing to do with religion that respects human life no matter what religious background or ethencity the person might be. Muslim Brotherhood regards these actions as ways that violate the methods towards the right change taht should be through legal and constitutional peacful procedures. This action is targeted at Egypt’s stability and internal security and we offer our condolences to the people hit by the bomb, wither Foreigners or Egyptians, and our prayers for Egypt’s peace and stability.’ Akef added.

The Egyptian Brotherhood is generally considered to be the parent movement of Hamas, a terrorist group that has been responsible for numerous bombings and rocket attacks on Israel.
