The Twitter feed of Dr Shuja Shafi, the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), indicates that he is on his way to Brussels accompanied by unnamed officials of the Muslim Charities Forum (MCF) in order to meet with the European Commission. According to the Tweet:

@drshujashafi: En route to Brussels with @muslimcharities delegation for meetings/visit with European Commission.: “En route to Brussels with @muslimcharities delegation for meetings/visit with European Commission.”

The GMBDW reported in January that GMBDW research had been used to strip funding from the MCF, a UK charity umbrella group that was linked to funding of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. In December 2014 we reported that the MCF was one of two Islamic charities that had lost their funding after the government claimed they had links with Islamist extremism. The GMBDW discussed the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas ties of the MCF when we reported in December 2012 that the MCF had been seeking “unfettered access” to distribute aid in Gaza. At that time we noted that four of the MCF charities were known to have been associated with the Union of Good (UOG),  a worldwide charity coalition raising funds for Hamas and headed by global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi. These charities were:

  •  Muslim Hands

All are still listed as part of the MCF.
