Muslim World League Secretary-General Meets A Muslim Brotherhood Leader Again

The International Islamic News Agency is reporting that the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) Dr. Abdullah Al Turki recently met with Muslim Brotherhood leader Dr. Esam Al-Basheer for the second time in the last three months. According to the report:

They reviewed issues of mutual interest including cooperation for preparation of books which clarify the principles of moderation in Islam and other related topics. Dr. Al-Basheer reiterated the keenness of the center on cooperation with the MWL in spreading the true message of Islam.

Dr. Basheer (aka Issam El-Bashir) was identified in the report as the Secretary General of the Kuwait-based International Center for Moderation and has a previous post has discussed when he and Dr. Al-Turki met in September, the International center for Moderation has recently held a number of conferences that included many global Muslim Brotherhood leaders. Dr. Basheer has held numerous positions associated with the global Muslim Brotherhood including as a former director of the UK charity Islamic Relief, a member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, and as a former Minister of Religious Affairs in the political party of Hassan Al-Turabi, formerly closely tied to the Brotherhood. The Muslim World League was established in 1962 as a means for the propagation of Saudi “Wahabbi” Islam.
