An Islamic news agency has reported that the Muslim World League (MWL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kuwait-based International Moderation Center. According to the report, the agreement was signed by MWL General Secretary Dr. Abdullah Al-Turki and Moderation Center head Dr Essam bin Ahmad al-Basheer during Dr. Turki’s recent visit to Kuwait. The document was said only to stipulate “cooperation in the field of the Islamic works.” As previous posts have reported, Dr. Basheer ((aka Issam El-Bashir) ) has held numerous positions associated with the global Muslim Brotherhood including as a former director of the UK charity Islamic Relief, a member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, and as a former Minister of Religious Affairs in the political party of Hassan Al-Turabi, formerly closely tied to the Brotherhood. The Moderation Center has recently held a number of conferences that included many global Muslim Brotherhood leaders. The Muslim World League was established in 1962 as a means for the propagation of Saudi “Wahabbi” Islam and had had a long-standing relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood who helped to create the organization.
