The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood has issued a statement congratulating “the Turkish” people on the strong support shown for Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in recent local elections. According to the statement:

3543827_370April 3, 2014 The Muslim Brotherhood congratulates the Turkish people for the freedom and democracy they nurture, as shown in the recent municipal elections characterized by integrity and transparency. It further congratulates the Turkish people for bidding farewell forever – God willing – to military coups that caused bloodshed and spread corruption and despotism, which at the time kept Turkey in the ranks of underdeveloped countries, until the Justice and Development Party (AKP) was elected into office and achieved great progress for Turkey in all areas, so it now is the seventeenth largest economy in the world.

So it was only natural that the AKP wins these latest elections, despite the conspiracies woven against it by domestic and regional powers, supported by hostile media (including Egyptian military-controlled media) that loathe the AKP and its leader.

Therefore, we the Muslim Brotherhood and all the free people of the world extend our sincere congratulations to the AKP and its leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan for this great victory, and wish him continued success in the leadership of Turkey, on the path of democratic progress and prosperity.

We also hail the patriotic Egyptian people’s commitment to non-violence, and exhort them to remain committed to the peaceful Revolution – for freedom, dignity and social justice. We urge them also to demand their right to civilian life in a modern democracy, so they can eliminate corruption and tyranny and overthrow the murderous military junta, and set Egypt free from the yoke of underdevelopment and poverty, so it can tread the path of progress and catch up with developed countries.

Indeed… ‘God has full control of all affairs, but most people do not know.’

In November 2012, we reported that Prime Minister Erdogan was in Cairo for talks with Egyptian President Morsi. In January 2013, the GMBDW reported that a Turkish legal delegation headed by a lawyer tied to the Turkish Muslim Brotherhood network has arrived in Gaza to “collect evidence on Israeli crimes.”  In October 2013, Hamas leader political leader Khaled Mashaal (aka  Kahled Meshaal) paid what was described as a “surprise visit”  to Ankara in order to meet with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The GMBDW reported in November hat a “Workshop on the situation of Palestinian refugees of Syria” was held at an Istanbul hotel.

In 2011, the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) published a report  on the background to the flotilla authored by the GMBDW editor titled “Turkey, the Global Muslim Brotherhood, and the Gaza Flotilla.” The report abstract states:

There is strong evidence for Turkish governmental involvement in the Gaza flotilla incident, with Turkish government support channeled through the Turkish Muslim Brotherhood network. Since 2006, Turkey has become a new center for the Global Muslim Brotherhood. The IHH was not acting alone but rather was an integral part of a Turkish Muslim Brotherhood network.

With respect to the Global Muslim Brotherhood, report’s second conclusion states:

The Gaza flotilla incident brought into sharp focus an even more significant long- term development: the growing relationship between the Erdogan government and the Global Muslim Brotherhood, which has given rise to some of the most notorious Islamist terrorist groups – from al-Qaeda to Hamas. Since 2006, Turkey has become a new center for the Global Muslim Brotherhood, while the Hamas regime in the Gaza Strip acted as the main axis for this activity
