The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) has issued a statement condemning what is calls the ” barbarity against minority groups” on the part of The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). According to the statement:

mcb-logo-blue-150x150The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) is increasingly disturbed by the serious and deteriorating humanitarian situation in northern Iraq. We reiterate our previous unequivocal condemnation of the violence perpetrated by ISIS (here) with the ‘depth and scale of barbarity attributed to ISIS’ being ‘particularly unconscionable’.

In the last few weeks the violence has escalated, pushing the number of internally displaced Iraqis nationwide to over one million. This includes hundreds of thousands of Muslims of all sectarian affiliations who do not subscribe to ISIS’ ideology and an estimated 100,000 Christians who have fled towns such as Tal Afar, Mosul and Qaraqosh. There is also growing concern about tens of thousands of Yezidi civilians (pre-Muslim religious minority) who are trapped in the Sinjar mountains, surrounded by ISIS.

The actions of ISIS and in particular their barbarity against minority groups, have been rightly condemned by all parts of the religious and political spectrum. The Muslim Council of Britain joins in their condemnation, and urges the British government to provide humanitarian aid to those suffering, as well as support efforts to prevent funding and arms reaching ISIS. We hope the Iraqi people from all backgrounds can unite to defeat this  group.”

Other elements of the Global Muslim Brotherhood have also issue various condemnations of ISIS.

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) is a UK umbrella group that has been dominated by the Jaamat-I-Islami and usually acts in concert with the Global Muslim Brotherhood.
