The Federation of Islamic Organizations In Europe (FIOE) has joined other elements of the Global Muslim Brotherhood and issued a statement in support of the Egyptian demonstrations. According to the FIOE statement:

The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE) has followed the peaceful and massive revolution, in which our fellow people of Egypt have engaged for several weeks now. Egyptians, men and women of all ages, have chosen, peacefully and in a civilised manner, to articulate their demands for liberty, justice, rights, and rule of law. The Egyptians have shown the determination, and mutual support, to continue demonstrations and protests in their millions, which earned them the admiration of the entire world. The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE) expresses its solidarity with the Egyptian people at this critical moment in their distinguished history. The Federation also condemns the repressive measures, and acts of wanton murder against innocent Egyptian citizens, who took to the public spaces and streets to demand their fundamental rights and civil liberties, and to push for comprehensive and democratic reforms that achieves proper civil participation. However, reports and pictures have documented atrocities and gross violations perpetrated by the security services against the unarmed civilians, such as firing live ammunition, driving on top of the masses with their vehicles, and orchestrating campaigns to terrorise peaceful protesters using gangs of criminals. There is no doubt that these developments, paralleled by popular movements in some Arab countries, call attention to the perils of injustice and absence of good government, as well as the state of deprivation and inequitable distribution of wealth and resources, which require comprehensive change that puts these countries and their peoples on the road of reform and prosperity, and heralds an end to the system of repression, oppression, and restrictions on the people. This mass popular mobilisation has shown the spirit of true brotherhood, and solidarity among the Egyptian people, Muslims and Christians, who were united behind the legitimate and popular demands, striving to achieve a better present, and a shining future for Egypt and its children. It also revealed that the sectarian divisions among the Egyptian people were a mere transitory state, a product of dictatorship, repression, and deprivation. The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE) invites all those with power to respond by necessity to the demands of the Egyptian people without delay, and urges Muslim scholars, especially, to support the legitimate demands of the people, and to express the values of Islam, inviting to truth, justice, and fairness. The shining future for Egypt can only achieved by respect for the will of the people and their choice, the protection of their liberty, rights, and dignity, and preventing the spilling of their blood.

A report on FIOE by the NEFA Foundation describes the organization as follows:

The Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe (FIOE) claims to be an independent organization representing the interests of Muslims in Europe. In reality, the FIOE is an umbrella group that comprises the global Muslim Brotherhood in Europe. Strong links connect FIOE’s leadership central institutions and member organizations to the Brotherhood, as well as to Saudi Arabia. Funding for the FIOE is derived largely from Gulf sources, including some of the ruling families of the United Arab Emirates. The FIOE has strong ties to Hamas and Hamas fund-raising organizations, and some FIOE member organizations show evidence of links with Al-Qaida. The FIOE recently opened a headquarters office in Brussels and has had some success in positioning itself as a “dialog partner” for the EU and other important institutions.
