IHH Spokesman Says 2nd Gaza Flotilla To Reach Gaza By End Of May

A Union of Good website has reported and IHH spokesman says that the second Gaza Flotilla aid convoy would reach Gaza Strip by end of May on the first anniversary of the violence which accompanied that last flotilla. According to the report

Muhammad Kaya, head of IHH’s branch office in the Gaza Strip, has affirmed that the second Freedom Flotilla aid convoy would reach Gaza Strip by end of May on the first anniversary of the first Freedom Flotilla massacre. He said during a meeting in Gaza with Palestinian minister of transport and communications Osama Al-Aisawi that the fleet would come from various European countries. The discussion tackled joint cooperation in the fields of transport and communications. Kaya said that the IHH sponsors around 9,000 orphans in Gaza in addition to supporting professional training centers in the Strip and would soon open a hospital in Beit Hanun. IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation is an Islamic Turkish NGO active in more than 100 countries. Established in 1992 and officially registered in Istanbul in 1995, ?HH provides humanitarian relief in areas of war, earthquake, hunger, and conflict. The ?HH holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 2004. Current president of the ?HH is Fehmi Bülent Y?ld?r?m. The ?HH came to international attention in the aftermath of the Gaza flotilla raid of 31 May 2010. The ?HH was owner and operator of three flotilla ships involved in the incident, including the MV Mavi Marmara, which served as the flagship of the convoy Freedom Flotilla I.Nine Turkish passengers, many of them members or volunteers for the ?HH, aboard the Mavi Marmara were killed by Israeli forces in a raid that began when Israeli commandos boarded the vessel during its attempt to breach the blockade of Gaza last May .

The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) has recently published a new report titled “Turkey, the Global Muslim Brotherhood, and the Gaza Flotilla.” The report abstract states:

There is strong evidence for Turkish governmental involvement in the Gaza flotilla incident, with Turkish government support channeled through the Turkish Muslim Brotherhood network. Since 2006, Turkey has become a new center for the Global Muslim Brotherhood. The IHH was not acting alone but rather was an integral part of a Turkish Muslim Brotherhood network.

With respect to the Global Muslim Brotherhood, report’s second conclusion states:

The Gaza flotilla incident brought into sharp focus an even more significant long- term development: the growing relationship between the Erdogan government and the Global Muslim Brotherhood, which has given rise to some of the most notorious Islamist terrorist groups – from al-Qaeda to Hamas. Since 2006, Turkey has become a new center for the Global Muslim Brotherhood, while the Hamas regime in the Gaza Strip acted as the main axis for this activity
