IIIT Educational Arm Establishes Scholarship Program

The Fairfax Institute, described as the “instructional arm” of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), is offering a scholarship program aimed at undergraduate students and described as follows:

The objective of the Rising Scholars Program is to offer young scholars an opportunity to develop an understanding, or to improve their understanding, of the Islamic worldview and Islamic intellectual thought, through a certificate program of continuing education courses, with opportunity for independent research and consultation with an advisor.

The program will allow recipient to participate in 48 hours of course work as part of a four-course certificate in Islamic Civilization with courses offered both at the Fairfax facility in Herndon as well as online.

IIIT is an important component of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood and the the key Fairfax instructors were also associated with what has been called the SAAR network (Safa Group), a network of Islamic organizations located in Northern Virginia that was raided by the Federal government in 2003 and which is the subject of an ongoing investigation. It appears that the Fairfax scholar ship program might be encountered problems since the website indicates that the deadline for application has been extended and may be further extended until a core group of seven students has been established.
