The website of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has reported that the WAMY Secretary-General met at his office in Riyadh with Hassan Moussa, identified as the Assistant Secretary-General of the European Council of Imams and head of the Swedish Institute for Islamic Dialogue and Communication. However, Sheikh Moussa is also the Imam of a Stockholm mosque that is said by local media to be close to the Muslim Brotherhood and that is also home to a number of Islamic organizations also connected with the Brotherhood including the Swedish member of the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe (FIOE), the Eu-level Muslim Brotherhood umbrella group. According to a May 2004 Swedish newspaper article, Sheikh Moussa gave virulently anti-American sermons in English that were then translated much more moderately in Swedish. Another local media report from 2006 states that although they were later expelled, an Al Qaeda recruiter was operating in the mosque and that the mosque is known for having “fundamentalist” sympathizers as well as individuals associated with the Muslim Brotherhood. WAMY, in turn, is a Saudi organization linked to the Muslim Brotherhood that U.S. government officials believed has helped to spread Islamic extremism around the world as well as sponsoring terrorism in places such as Bosnia, Israel, and India.
